Downfall of DC???

Lying in the Gutter reports

IT'S ARMAGEDDON 2001 ALL OVER AGAIN

A familiar source known collectively as "New York comics industry employees talking in bars" tells me that the last issue of "Final Crisis" is further delayed as it is suffering from serious rewrites. It appears that DC Executive Editor Dan DiDio was unhappy with the way the story concluded and the implications for the DC Universe for a while and had ordered changes from a, naturally, rather unhappy Grant Morrison. Considering this is the way he wrote the pitch for the book.

As a result, creative teams working on a number of spinoff and affected books have also had to stop work while the “Final Crisis” ending is reworked.

Expect more lateness, more annoyance and less likelihood of Grant Morrison doing DCU work in the near future.

STARDUST

Morrison is not the only person having difficulties with DiDio's direction. I understand that James Robinson and Dan had a stand up argument that led to Robinson quitting the Superman books and the DCU in general.

Well that is some very very interesting news. Now i have to be honest. I'm not entirely sure thats accurate im pretty sure that Grant Morrison will stick around to continue his Batman run and continue to pump out some creator owned work from Vertigo. James Robinson however is a big loss. He's has been hyped to do some big big things in his Superman run, and there has been a load of hype over his up coming Justice League book.

It is becoming more and more obviouse that the current collaberation on the Superman Books (Action Comics, Superman, Supergirl and eventually Adventure Comics), is well on its way to being a legendary run up there with Millars Daredevil etc. If I where DC i would not want to mess with that in any way shape or form. If the rumor is true then the first thing i would recoment is getting Pete Tomosi on board as he has shown an ability to work onboard with Geoff Johns on big concepts with his work on the Green Lantern Corps, and it would be nice to see him rewarded with a run on one of the big books. This could be an interesting time for DC and we could get to see some new tallent get a chance to shine through, or it could be a very bad time for DC where a lot of things that looked very possitive get ruined by a few bad decisions. Time will tell. Personally im a DC fan through and through and i would love to see nothing more than for DC to thrive

First Post

Well today is the day that i start a blog. This blog will be about comics for the most part maybe i will throw in my thoughts on comic movies as well that will remain to be seen.
I suppose i had best list my current top 10 books to let you know the sort of comic fan that i am.

  1. Captain America by Ed Brubaker
  2. Green Lantern by Geoff Johns
  3. Fables by Bill Willingham
  4. Action comics by Geoff Johns
  5. Thor by JMS
  6. Batman by Grant Morrison
  7. Nova by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning
  8. Criminal by Ed Brubaker
  9. Invincible Iron Man by Matt Fraction
  10. Guardians of the Galaxy by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning
I note that in the above list there is no Brian Bendis but i should note that i love his work, his run on Daredevil with Alex Maleev is probably my favourite run on a book ever. I just feel his work has been weighed down by Secret Invasion some what of late, not that i think it's bad work but i feel that it might have been a bit to ambitious for a single writer to take on.

Things that i am currently really enjoying in comics are:

  • The Lead up to the Blackest Night
    The New Krypton story
  • Reading the Walking Dead in trades
  • The Final Crisis Spin-Offs
  • Anything by Jonathan Hickman or Jason Aarons

So i will be posting reviews of the books i read on the Thursdays that i buy them, and if i read about any comic or comic related news i will post it hear with an opinion.

Till then see you guys latter.
